ARM-based Macs, also known as M1 Macs, are a big deal, especially for gaming. Tech experts predicted that M1 Macs could perhaps become powerful enough to save Mac gaming, but warned it could take years. Yet immediately upon release, M1 Macs blew us away with their incredible gaming performance compared to Intel Macs.

Technically, every game that works on Intel Macs should be able to run on M1 Macs thanks to Rosetta 2.
And this works generally great, except for a few cases in which the game will crash, run poorly or simply not run at all. For that reason, our Compatibility list above is tracking Rosetta 2 support separately.
Unsupported Mac Games on Apple Silicon Macs
The following games cannot run on Apple Silicon Macs at the time of this writing. While Rosetta enables most Intel-based games to run on Apple Silicon Macs without a hitch, so exceptions remain.

What are Native Mac M1 games?
Native M1 games are games that have been written for ARM-based processors. These are the apps and games that will deliver the biggest jump in performance compared to Intel-powered Macs. This was made clear when testing triple-A games on the new M1 Pro.
Unfortunately, the list of native M1 games is still small. More games will definitely make the jump, and you can rest assured we will track them and include them on this list.
How to check if a game is Intel or M1 Native?
If you’re wondering whether a game you play has native M1 support or not, this is how you can check for yourself:
- Find the Game using the Finder
- Left-click it
- Select “Show info”
Native M1 games will be identified as “Universal” (unlike Intel games that will be identified as “Intel”).
So im trying to download the not m1 version but i don’t see it its kind of a problem could you explain where can i find it

I noticed you have Witcher down as unsupported but there is in fact a workaround for this.
I am on Windows 11 ARM insider beta on an M1 PRO MacBook 2021 and have had Witcher: Enhanced Edition running perfectly.

For Windows:
To get around this issue, please go to the game’s folder: (…)The Witcher\System\witcher.exe and create a shortcut to witcher.exe.
Right-click the shortcut and go to its Properties. In the Target textbox next to the path type:
-dontForceMinReqs
There should be a space between the path and the switch, like here:
“(…)System\witcher.exe” -dontForceMinReqs
Confirm with OK. Now when you run the game from this shortcut the Witcher should stop announcing that the minimum requirements are not met.

Nop, unless you stream using a service like NVIDIA GeForce Now, it’s impossible to run the game on an M1 Mac… It will remain impossible until the devs decide to update the game… (should be easy thanks to Rosetta 2)
Can you please make the list of games sortable by how well it plays? Good, poor excellent etc. ? All the other columns can be sorted this way except the “Performance” column.

starcraft 1 works with no issues, I’ve submitted for it to be on the list, but it didn’t make it there :/
Neverwinter Nights Enhanced Edition has been optimized for Apple M1 since September 2021 and it works great!
actually performance “good” in this list means it will run at 30 fps max

FFXIV online runs fine on a Mac, no rosetta needed. I’ve played it for over 7 years on a standard Mac Mini and now on my M! Mac Mini.
Resident Evil 4 Remake does not appear to have an M1 Native version as mentioned in your list. If you go to steam it is windows only. Where is this Mac Apple Silicon Native version mentioned in your list?
You have to get it on the Mac App Store. Steam indeed does not offer it, which is a shame… Probably a deal between CAPCOM and Apple is the reason why the game is only on the App Store…
Witcher 1 and 2 have Apple Silicon support, on both GoG and the MAS
