The Sumo Legal team had a great time clearing #StillWakestheDeep and we worked with THE CHINESE ROOM LTD to try to incorporate as many authentic era-appropriate brands into the game that would fit with the 1975 setting! Fun Facts: - we tried to get Tennent's Lager in the game (given the game is set in Scotland!) but they said “no” 😭 - you might be surprised at how much a licence for Spam (yes, the processed meat product) will set you back 😳 - we got some authentic MG Cars posters from the 1970s that you can find in the game! #gamedev #gamedevelopment #brandlicensing

Awww if only you could have a couple Tennants walking around those beautiful environments. Shame! :P

The fact tennents said no is baffling to me. They involve themselves in a ton of guerrilla and modern marketing options. To me having their product in a game seems like a fantastic idea. Possibly due to the old style cans being considered “offensive” or something along those lines and them wanting to not be associated with it anymore. Apart from that I can’t think why they wouldn’t have been up for this.

As a Scot, this is somewhat disappointing from Tennents...

You have to tell me more about the Spam licence over a pint of Tennents sometime! I remember doing some Tunnock's Tea Cake licensing back when I trained - a possibility for a sequel maybe!

Interesting clearance Tim Repa-Davies congratulations! Btw, wonder the reasons for “no” with Tennent’s Lager :) good luck!
