Which line are you driving the final corners LEADING the race? 🔴🔵🟢 Defend too much and you could be taken on a switchback. Take your normal line and you could get overtaken. The final corners are stressful when you’re leading with pressure on your bumper. Make a split second wrong decision and you could be off the podium.

Brings me back to the question I keep asking myself, when is it tactical patterns and when is it principle based? Are these movements based on patterns of play or recognized triggers? Are they drilled in during phases or built in during training exercises?

On Monday morning, the world will wake up to a new #1 men's tennis player as 22-year-old Jannik Sinner becomes the first Italian ever to achieve this milestone. Jannik is a quiet hero who, through hard work, humility, and the support of an amazing team, has reached the pinnacle of tennis. Here are three lessons from Jannik and his team, which can be applied to any professional team: 1. "The most important thing is to strive to do your best in life. After that, the rest is beyond your control. Life is unpredictable: a match you seem to be losing might turn into a win, and one you think you have won might slip away at match point. Sometimes, to win, you must continue to endure." 🌟 Resilience over uncertainty: Navigating uncertain territories is difficult and exhausting. Getting yourself to focus on what you can control is difficult but something that helps me staying sane when everything feels overwhelming. 2. "I don’t believe in talent as something you are born with. You earn it. You might have slightly better abilities, but it's only through hard work that you'll rise above. The ones who work the hardest are the ones with true talent." 🌟 Redefining Talent: Talent is developed through dedication and hard work, not just inherent ability. Cultivating a strong work ethic can lead to incredible achievements, no matter what is your start in life. 3. "I treat everyone the same way, whether it's the number 1 player or someone cleaning the locker rooms. I always behave the same way, with respect and politeness." 🌟 Respect: Embrace a culture that recognises everyone's contribution to success. Inching your way to greater heights. “On Saturday, superstar Swedish pole vaulter Mondo Duplantis broke his own world record by clearing 6.24 meters (20.47 feet). His previous record? 6.23m set last September, then 6.22m before that. It’s by design: Duplantis gets a check (which can reach up to $100k) when he breaks the world record, so he raises the bar by one centimeter each time to maximize his earnings. This playbook was written decades ago by the great Ukrainian pole vaulter Sergey Bubka. Between 1985 and 1994, Bubka broke his own record at least a dozen times to collect as many checks from Nike as possible. During those nine years, the bar went all the way from 6.00m to…6.14m.” Passage from Morning Brew 🥇 Were Duplantis and Bubka being greedy? We could think that… Or, it could be that jumping 1cm higher is like shaving 0.1 seconds off a 100m sprint; it takes a lot of effort. But this young man has broken his own world record eight times. Often he makes it look easy. I think it’s not hard to believe that he has many more 1cm beats ahead. The prize money (sponsored by Japan’s TDK Corporation) certainly helps to motivate taking bite-size steps to jump higher each time. If it’s there and he can take it, why not? New Season, New Goals! 23/24 🚀 I'm excited about the upcoming season, and I have some big goals in mind. It's no mystery that this wasn’t my first choice, but I know it will be the right one for me and my career. I decided to sign with my old team, Apollon Pontou in Greece, again. A few months back, I said I'd never come back here. But, like they say, never say never. I was talking to some other clubs about joining them, and things were looking good. There was one club in Germany that was interesting, and it seemed like a great move for my career. But, sometimes in life, things don't work out. No one we spoke to had anything negative to say about my Football capabilities, they all saw my talent and potential! But, The main reason a transfer didn’t go through was because of my lack of experience and not playing much in the last season: - I was injured for six months. - I only played in 5 games (2 of them I started). - I completed a full 90-minute match only once. I get why the German club didn't want to take the risk, but I believe sometimes you need to take chances and give people opportunities. No hard feelings, though. I'm back in Greece, looking forward to preseason. My main goals for this year: 1. Get more playing time - My aim is 500-700 minutes on the field. 2. Stay injury-free - I'll put more emphasis on recovery strategies and fuelling. And then, seeing what opportunities open up, maybe the German club will get in touch again ;) I'll keep you updated on my journey this season! 🙌
