What a fantastic group, great vibe and stunning surroundings. Last week we got together in Crete, Greece. The entire #People&Culture team of #SES were up for some very intense, and inspiring days. From the early start onwards, it was all about encouraging a new mindset. It was just one vibrant, energetic, challenging and bold invitation to εξερευνώ (‘explore’ in Greek). Working through multiple initiatives, projects, organisational changes and HR challenges this international team from all over the globe discussed, brainstormed, aligned and co-created their path for this year and next. Creating a guiding compass with underlying values, tackling elephants in the room and refusing to shy away from uncomfortable topics. It was hard work, with long and intense sessions for days in a row. But... it was also inspiring, fun and fresh with loads of surprising and offbeat elements. We’ll never forget the ‘4th piece battle’ (with some absolutely rocking it), or the search for our ‘souls’ encouraging to bring in everyone's passions (causing some bewildered looks). The Business Storytelling (me on stage) with the Wendigo monster, a delightful Mukbang, the Curse of Knowledge and an eventful Restaurant Challenge that sparked a really fiery competition. And just so much more. Not at the least the incredible powerful personal storytelling. On teams, on recognising people, and on life-changing moments and how those resonate in business choices. From Borneo to Hendrix, but especially a huge shoutout to the incredible New York story that left half the room in tears. Wow, this P&C team is so fired up for value add change. Hey all #HR departments out there, keep an eye out for this lot! Thanks Panorea Karanikolopoulou - Macdonald, Lisa (Olden) Wilkinson, Cornelia NAUMOF, Fabien LOEFFLER and so many more... The list of people, both LT and P&C, that really went for this is endless. But especially David Giles and Christina Müller, they are the ones that made this all happen and got us all truly 'swept by great ideas'. What an intense, productive and valuable summit. So cool! Couldn’t be more proud to be part of this business transformation.

How can exchanging thoughts and ideas inspire a sense of belonging? It works in dynamic ways, like discovering oneness in common experiences, goals and ambitions. Spaces that are inclusive and open allow potential opportunities to seep in, all starting with a conversation. #AdityaBirlaGroup #BigInYourLife #OurPurposePaintsOurStory

Have you ever found yourself stuck in an 'echo chamber', where the only opinions and ideas you hear are just slightly different versions of your own? It's a comfortable place, but it's also where innovation goes to die. In today’s rapidly evolving market, seeking out and embracing diverse perspectives isn’t just nice to have; it’s a must. Why? Because diverse viewpoints challenge our assumptions, uncover blind spots, and lead to breakthroughs that homogeneous groups might never stumble upon. This isn't about ticking boxes. It's about smashing through the echo chamber walls to foster true innovation. Consider this: A study by Harvard Business Review revealed that companies with higher-than-average diversity had 19% higher innovation revenues. That’s not pocket change; it’s proof that diversity drives dollars. So what can we do? Start by actively seeking voices from outside your usual network. Attend conferences outside your industry. Read publications from other sectors or countries. Invite someone with a different background for a coffee chat. Here’s our challenge to you: This week, reach out to someone who might have a completely different perspective on your work than you do. Listen genuinely. You might be surprised at how this opens up pathways for innovation and growth that were previously hidden by the comfortable sameness of your echo chamber. Let’s turn our networks into diverse thinking tanks rather than echo chambers. Who will you reach out to first? #DiversityAndInclusion #Innovation #EchoChamber #DiversePerspectives #Breakthroughs #EmbracingDiversity #InnovationRevenue #OutsideTheBox #NetworkDiversity #OpenMinds

Did you know that people have varying speeds of thinking and interacting? Surprisingly, we all possess a rapid cognition capability that thrives under time pressure. What’s the insight? In most cases, that initial intuitive response often outshines a lengthy analytical process. As the room becomes a safe space for idea exploration, the group's ability to process complex information and make decisions takes a significant leap. Speed isn't just about efficiency—it also sparks lateral leaps in thinking, nurturing the growth of creative ideas. 🔑 The Key: Speed improves the quality of group decisions We find groups consistently amaze themselves with how swiftly they collectively process information and make decisions. Want to unleash the power of rapid cognition and speed up the path to innovative breakthroughs within your group meetings? Join us for the upcoming RapidConsensus workshop to learn how; 📅 Date: 23rd November and half day 24th November 📍 Location: Shangri-La Hotel Sydney at the Rocks 🔗 Workshop Info: https://lnkd.in/giKmyGRg ✉️ For any questions or details about the workshop, please get in touch. #RapidConsensus #7principlesSeries #Facilitation #CognitiveSpeed

“We will always have Paris” As life rolls on post-sale of my company, I am consciously reminding myself that ‘we will always have Paris’. As roles are updated, as roles change, as people leave, as people start other things, I am stuck wondering “if I was still there, could I have changed that outcome”. Or “would I do it different”, or is it simply what was always going to happen naturally? I’ll never know for sure, and I don’t lose sleep on the road not taken. But it doesn’t stop the human response I have to it. I deeply cared for each and every individual that was in that org. Maybe wrapped myself up in caring more than some people say you should, but certainly more than I’m sure they cared about me. So any perception that I have as things change, all relates back to my thoughts of the worst case scenario and that maybe I could change it for the better - no matter how wrong that may be. Remembering Paris is helpful as I reflect back. Thinking about those great moments, the laughs, the tears, the growth, overcoming challenges, winning awards, the 1 on 1s, the celebrations, the development, the drinks, and of course my favourite, the Christmas Parties. It’s usually this weekend just gone when we would hold the party and that inspired this post. I miss the feeling I got at those events and the relationships that formed within the company because of those parties. By far the best investment we consistently made as a company - it’s what galvanised our culture, it’s what made our team a team and not just a collection of people across the country, and I truly believe that without them we wouldn’t have been as successful. So if you’re running a company, especially a remote one, fly your team (and their partners if you can) to one location every year to celebrate together, it will be the best money you ever spend. I hope everyone that was in my team remembers our time together the same way. Regardless of anything that happened since or will in the future, we will always have Paris. #entrepreneur #culture #leadership #team

Keynoting in Singapore - Here’s what I learnt. 🛫 🔥 1. Bring your culture. It’s very easy to get swept up in the culture of large conferences. Something that’s super important to me when I speak is to bring people into presence with the moment. So getting rid of laptops and other distractions is key when that’s the dominant culture of the environment. 🌎 2. Different countries have different audiences. What I learnt is how much I deeply know how Australians will respond as an audience member. Being on a different continent taught me how to quickly identify the values of the audience and how to speak to them. - More on this soon! 🤫 3. Getting feedback. After being offered the opportunity to speak on such a different stage I spoke to senior speakers in the space and asked them to jump on calls with me to hear their feedback. If you’re a speaker you should always do this. One, It’s great networking and Two, It’s not about taking on everything they say but understanding the vantage point of where they are coming from can inform how you curate your next speech. - Super insightful 😎 Things are heating up as we hit the middle of the year and I’ve already done more stages than I did in the entirety of 2023. Set to double my stages this year! (I made a goal of doing 108 stages this year). 👌 🤩

What do you want to talk about? Well, thanks for asking LinkedIn. Today I would like to talk about competing vs collaborating for precious resources in rural (and football ⚽️)... So, a fortnight ago I travelled to Taree to run a workshop with some amazing humans from several health and social care organisations. They came together to plan how to activate Dr Cath Cosgrave's attract connect stay strategy so they can attract, recruit and retain #alliedhealthprofessionals to their #rural community. I know it is cliche but I asked them to determine their vision for the ACS strategy. One of the participants said their vision was: "For organisations and businesses that provide allied health services to come together to collectively address the needs of the community." Excuse me? Did I hear that correctly? Ever felt like you're the ONLY believer in your idea and passion? Well woop woop. Cue happy dance! The Taree gang gets it. Why the jazz? Well, I have been on a crusade to help others rethink workforce planning ... you know, grasp the issue before shaking things up type of stuff. I have argued in my posts that in order for attract-recruit strategies to be successful, you should FIRST identify the depth and breadth of the health and social care problems individuals in your organisation or #rural community face. Once you have a full picture of their problems ONLY THEN can you accurately determine the type and amount of health and social care services and professionals your organisation or #rural community should supply to address those problems. Otherwise you are trying to solve a puzzle blindfolded. So. My new friends in Taree are spot on and are 100% vibing with teamwork kings Dr. Benjamin Hardy & Dan Sullivan (my other new friends) (!) Hardy and Sullivan's brilliant book 'Who Not How' describes how collaboration achieves so much more than competition. They describe how most organisational cultures are stage 3 cultures which are epitmised by internal competition and rivalry, whereby each individual person is out for themselves. Conversely stage 4 cultures, whilst rare, are far more productive and successful than stage 3 cultures in both business and, not surprisingly, sports because they emphasise teamwork and collaboration, focusing on the quality and characteristics of the group rather than the individual. So, football? Well. How can we not write about it this week? Yep, I yelled my voice out after Monday's epic win! And what a great example of stage 4 culture⚽ I spend all day Saturday and Sunday watching my crew of 4 play football. So I think I am qualified to make a sporting analogy to round this post off. Much like the Taree folks, my son (pictured) plays his best game and the team is most successful when there is no ego, no individuals, only teamwork and collaboration. We all know this to be true for our workplaces, but my challenge to you today is ... can you say this is true for your whole #rural community too?
