I want to thank everyone who worked on Gears of War 1, 2 and 3. I played them on #emulator and I must say: if you want to learn game design and game art, do play Gears of War. It's not the flawless product and the perfect experience, but it's just awesome. Play it and you'll see how an awesome team makes an awesome game. I could go on to praise the art, the cinematics, the gameplay and so on. But I'd be a technical review and this post is not meant for that. If you want references about #cinematics, #leveldesign, #environmentart #envart, #gamedesign, #gamedev, #soundtrack, dialogues, scripts, storytelling, etc. Gears of War is an excellent reference to learn from. If I were to compare the game with others. Compare Gears of War with Max Payne 3. Gears of War is superior in every way. Compare the art and the design of the destruction in the cities in Gears of War with F.E.A.R. 2. F.E.A.R. 2 also features ashes of people who died after a nuclear explosion. However, the environment created in Gears of War 3 is better. I could say that the post-apocalyptic environments are superior to those in RAGE and RAGE 2. My big brother, Michał Wikliński, is making a video game, and I'm so proud of how far he's come! I've been working in game development for over 10 years now. I know that making a game, any game, no matter big or small, is not a small feat. But to make one from start to finish by yourself, with a bit of help here and there from friends who support you along the way, is even more impressive. It's amazing to see "Bearnard" growing from very humble beginnings, through the first playable prototypes, to... well, a Video Game with a capital V. Check it out! Despite it's shortcomings upon release, Cyberpunk 2077 has grown to become a staple game in the Sci-Fi/Open world genre. Began to finalize majority of the gameplay elements needed for the first level of my project, including the Void Wall Breaches. These will teleport the player between the Earth Realm and The Void Realm, but requires the player to activate a totem to "Look Beyond". Upon interacting with the totem the player's screen is tinted purple, their character mesh material is changed, and an extra VFX is activated on the portal symbolizing that the player can journey through. These portals open up opportunities for interesting puzzles and gameplay in the future! #gamedesign #juniordeveloper #unrealengine4
