While much of what Lisa Zamparo does in the lab remains behind closed doors, we are thrilled to share a groundbreaking partnership that she is a part of, around Artificial Intelligence (AI). In the quest to shape the future of soil and substrates, data and AI will play a pivotal role. That's why the Public-Private Partnership known as SoilProS was born. To tackle these challenges head-on, AI-based machines will be trained, revolutionizing our understanding of how different raw materials impact the microbiology of our mixes and thereby the growth of different crops. It helps us in supporting our customers optimize their business. This ambitious project brings together experts to analyze vast datasets encompassing soil and growing media biodiversity, as well as chemical and physical characteristics. The ultimate goal? To unlock the power of this information and predict the ideal combinations of crop varieties, seed mixtures, fertilizers, soil inocula, and growing media for the future. Of course, we must begin by understanding the current state. Reflecting on her involvement, Lisa says: "It is truly exciting to be part of a movement driving sustainable food production for the future!" We couldn't agree more.

Navigating the Future of Agriculture: Insights from World Agri-Tech In an era marked by rapid change, especially with the swift advancements in technology, it's crucial for industries to adapt and evolve. Agriculture is no exception. With the pressing challenge to feed 50% more people using the same natural resources, the sector is quickly advancing towards intensification, leveraging cutting-edge technologies to meet global demands. At the recent #WorldAgriTech conference, I had the privilege of listening to tech leaders and executives from leading agricultural corporations share their visions for the industry's future and the main trends shaping our path forward. Thank you Ranveer Chandra, Elizabeth Fastiggi, Ruohan Liu, Jeremy Williams, Scott Komar, Elliott Grant, Vipula Shukla for the interesting discussions and new ideas. Key Trends to Watch: Artificial Intelligence (AI): AI is set to drastically improve efficiency across sectors. In the future, AI will play pivotal roles in staff training and unlocking people's potential, driving innovation, and aiding in scenario-based planning. This will support shareholders and top management in making informed decisions. Genome Editing: Already a standard in the aquaculture and few other subsectors, genome editing is gradually becoming ubiquitous in agriculture. By creating disease-resistant and faster-growing species, this technology significantly enhances business efficiency. Robotics: Particularly in harvest collection, robotics are becoming increasingly important, promising to revolutionize traditional practices. Sustainability: With a focus on reducing fuel consumption, agriculture is moving towards more sustainable practices, highlighting the industry's commitment to environmental stewardship. The conversations and insights from #WorldAgriTech have solidified my belief that embracing these trends is not just beneficial but essential for the future of agriculture. The journey towards a more efficient, sustainable, and tech-driven agricultural sector is well underway, and I'm excited to be part of this transformation. #AgricultureTechnology #SustainableFarming #InnovationInAgriculture #FutureOfFarming

🌎 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗼𝘀 Vivent is delighted to be invited to #WEF24 in #Davos this week by UpLink - World Economic Forum . UpLink is the World Economic Forum’s open innovation platform which creates bridges for entrepreneurs to connect to an active community of organisations that support the scaling of innovation to drive positive change for people and the planet. The theme of this year’s summit is “Rebuilding Trust” including transparency, consistency and reliability and there are many sessions on “Climate and Nature”, the “Future of Work”, “Fairer Economies” and “Energy Transition”. Vivent’s aims for the summit are to exchange ideas on how we can scale exciting technology like decoding #biosignals to improve food security and to contribute to more sustainable agriculture. Vivent uses Artificial Intelligence #AI and #machine learning to decode naturally occurring plant biosignals, and there are lots of sessions in #Davos on leading edge thinking on AI which we are looking forward to attending. We are also keen to listen to leading edge thinking on nature-based solutions. Our work on continuous crop monitoring shows convincing evidence of how information drives evolution and we are already making exciting breakthroughs in understanding interactions between, plants, soil and climate which will help develop a more profound understanding of biodiversity. Many of our contacts have asked if it is possible to follow the sessions running this year and the answer is YES! Beatrice Di Caro has written a great article with links to all the channel which you can read on this link: https://lnkd.in/eA_c4mTc

For our fourth installment of our AI in Ag collaboration at Monument Advocacy, check out this piece by Joseph Hoefer and myself on leveraging #emerging tech for global #foodsecurity. Leveraging Digital Innovation to Improve Global Food Security The world is facing a severe food security crisis – over 2 billion people are food insecure, while climate change could depress crop yields by 30% by 2080. However, emerging #digitaltechnologies offer solutions to build resilient, sustainable food supply chains. As we’ve seen experts discuss over the last year, advanced analytics and #AI models combined with agricultural data can create #digitaltwins of farms. These virtual replicas enable better decisions around planting, irrigation, fertilization, and harvesting by simulating various scenarios to optimize yields based on precise field-level risks. Scaled more broadly, the technology helps buffer global food production against climate change and geopolitical conflicts. Making such innovations accessible to smallholder farms is also critical. Integrated mobile tools allow easy capture of farm data to generate tailored intelligence and recommendations. Across the ecosystem, public and private sectors can extract value from predictive analytics – raising yields, enabling smarter investments and inputs, improving insurance and risk management tools, and boosting #rural community resilience. The latest AI advances, like generative models that provide #data-driven insights, can democratize digital #agriculture globally. With emerging innovative solutions, digital transformation offers a #sustainable path to meeting world food needs despite current and future challenges.
