[PDF] Medieval European Armies 1300-1500 Terence Wise, Gerry Embleton digsell https://lnkd.in/eCu5rJSt Almost continual warfare raged in Europe during the period 1300-1500. These wars were the furnaces in which many of the modern European nations were forged. Parallel with this emergence of the nations came the development of national armies to protect the newly-won borders and independence, yet throughout this period the old feudal method of raising an army persisted. This fascinating study by Terence Wise explores the organisation, weapons and equipment of the armies who fought across medieval Europe, from the Hundred Years War to the fight against the Moors in Spain and the French invasion of Italy. https://lnkd.in/e-qDWNGc

- You have #gained weight. - Don't worry, we're fine. They don't do anything to us here. 💡During a video call with a russian prisoner, his wife wonders how he has put on weight. At the same time, the conditions of the Ukrainian military in russian captivity are completely different. Our defenders lose ❗️40-50 kg of weight. They are not allowed to call home. Their families often know nothing about their fate. Please share this video. The world needs to know about russian crimЕs! Credits u24.gov.ua #supportUkraine🇺🇦

Where is the promise to evacuate civilians? In Gaza there is no place left but Israel could "easily" follow the gist of the UNSC and the ICJ decisions by creating a humanitarian solution which nevertheless includes achieving its goal of military fully dismantling Hamas. If Israel would open its borders and create Blue Helmets/UN peace force controlled, UNHCR managed, refugee facilities in Israel, it could upon doing so dismantle all military infrastructure in Gaza without causing any further civilian collateral damage. At the same time would the (disarmed) Gazans have a stable very safe zone to go to with a high likelihood to be able to return home if Gaza becomes inhabitable again (currently it is no longer). Finally, by involving the international community, a starting point for co-existence as equals could be created. www.pax.ngo & www.convergence.ngo

while the distinction is not always clear-cut, some objective criteria to distinguish freedom fighters from terrorists could include: fighting against military occupation rather than civilians, having patriotic motives to resist tyranny, and adhering to the laws of war and Just War principles. Subjective perspectives will always play a role, but these factors provide a framework for more objectively assessing the legitimacy of armed resistance movements. #framework

9 Mar 17:05: ‘Ukraine must win, and we in the free world must do everything we can to help them. Since Russia began stealing Ukrainian lands and killing their people in 2014, Ukraine’s brave defenders have been trying to hold back the same Russian aggression that threatens the entire world. Their fight is our fight, and Ukraine has already and continues to sacrifice so much to check the Kremlin’s imperial ambitions. Ukraine can and will win. Since the overt phase of Russia’s invasion started just over two years ago, Ukraine has liberated over 50% of its stolen lands and its citizens within. Ukraine has wrecked the pride of the Russian army, navy, and air force with its skill, tenacity, and our support. Like our British allies shown here, we must continue to support Ukraine as it fights for liberty against Russian oppression. #SlavaUkraini #StandWithUkraine #ArmUkraineNow #DeOppressoLiber Special Operations Association of America Hoplite Group Irregular Warfare Initiative Irregular Warfare Center (IWC)’: Thank you, Doug 🇺🇸 … and J Scott 🇺🇸:
This week I traveled to Kyiv to raise the alarm to the democratic world - we must make sure Ukraine wins this war. The UK has stepped up to do more than ever, with our largest military support package to date. Every nation must now do the same and ensure freedom triumphs over tyranny.

Fascinating Fact: What if I told you fake armies changed WWII's course? Let's explore this powerful strategy. Operation Fortitude was a crucial Allied deception strategy during WWII. It was designed to mislead the Axis about the true invasion site in Western Europe. Developed under Operation Bodyguard and inspired by Dudley Clarke's earlier work, it involved creating fake military formations. The aim was to divert German attention from Normandy and delay their reinforcements post-D-Day, ensuring the success of the 6 June 1944 landings. This clever tactic played a vital role in the Allies' victory. #OperationFortitude #MilitaryStrategy #History Source : Morbid Knowledge X

Why is proportionality crucial in wars? Suppose a military force is perceived as causing excessive harm or civilian casualties. In that case, it can lead to public outrage, loss of international support, and damage to the reputation of the warring parties. Adhering to the principle of proportionality helps to minimize these negative consequences and maintain the moral high ground in a conflict. Overall, proportionality in war is essential for ethical and humanitarian reasons and for strategic and political considerations. It helps to ensure that the use of force is justified, minimize harm to civilians, and maintain public support for the war effort.

Energy.& Geopolitics | Global Oil/Gas Markets | EU, USA, OPEC, Russia, China,; esp. USA, Germany, Ukraine, Venezuela,
The Times channel's chosen title does some injustice to the nuanced analysis here (yes, he discusses "Cascading collapse" possibilities) by the retired British Maj.-Gen. Chip Chapman. IMHO: A this is a sober, competent, matter-of-fact assessment of many military, but also political, aspects of the war's trajectory. Listen patiently. A related note: My own view is that this is a multi-year war; I'd say 7.0-years (+/- 2.5). Ukraine can and likely will win; but a multi-year war nonetheless. The reality is that de facto winning on the overwhelming extent of the battlefield territory does not necessarily end hostilities, as for example in the Viet Nam war, or for that matter the USA national liberation war vs Britain. In both cases, some decisive victory making it impossible for the aggressor to deny their long-time de facto loss was necessary. I will write more on this soon. The significance is in what especially the Europeans should be economically and militarily preparing for. Tom O'D. GlobalBarrel dot com
