Because at Audi we truly believe in circularity. We believe that the loops we close together with our partners will bring us around to a better tomorrow. Therefore, our Circular Economy strategy is based on collaboration and comprehensible statements:   𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲 – Extended vehicle lifetime. 𝗥𝗲𝘂𝘀𝗲 - Reusage of parts. 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲 – Usage of circular materials.   To make it clear we haven’t reinvented Circular Economy. But in alignment with the cradle to cradle principle, we have set our priorities, which are sometimes different compared to our competitors. Let me give an example. When it comes to the usage of circular materials, we want to avoid downcycling as good as possible by increasing in particular the amount of post-consumer (automotive) materials in future vehicle generations. Materials which have already been in the hands of our customers. Such loops are often not easy to implement. This is the reason why our strategy is built on existing collaborations and projects which we have set up in the last four years. At the IAA mobility we are showcasing exactly those projects along our hotspot streams: steel, aluminum, glass, polymers and the battery. Including e.g. our MaterialLoop program and our all-new GlassLoop process which we implemented in series production for all Q4 e-tron models a week ago. Because we do not only need a clear strategy but also clear actions.   Are you curious now? For 120 years, Stuttgart-Untertürkheim has been the beating heart of Mercedes-Benz powertrain. The success story continues into the electric age with our Mercedes-Benz eCampus. This new, state-of-the-art competence centre for development of cells and batteries is where our scientists and engineers will develop future generations of advanced #batteries and battery cells for our growing portfolio of electric vehicles. We laid the foundation stone on May 31, 2022 and we are continuously advancing the construction site. Conducting battery cell R&D in-house is an important part of our sustainable business strategy and central to our 'Design for Environment' approach. This is how we drive battery #circularity from the very start. The cells inside the battery hold the key to efficiency, energy density and resource conservation. With innovative new chemistries, we can squeeze even more power into smaller, lighter packages using fewer resources. This is how we plan to make our batteries of the future more sustainable. At the eCampus, we will ultimately research, develop and build battery cells as well as test cells, modules and new battery generations. Yesterday, we announced an important milestone on our way to become a carbon-net zero company by 2038. We have concluded the sale of around 70 hectares of land which we will no longer need in the future. Our partner VGP with CEO Jan van Geet will develop the land, in line with the general ambitions of the Ruesselsheim city council. And as part of the global Stellantis strategy, we will develop a new grEEn-campus on our historic site, providing a modern, exciting, sustainable workplace for our teams. We are currently transforming our company at lightning speed. Use of virtual reality in vehicle design. More digital technology in engineering. Manufacturing plants in Ruesselsheim and Eisenach that produce the battery-electric vehicles of the future. Less CO2-emissions in logistics. The grEEn-campus in Ruesselsheim. These are just a few examples. Everything we do follows our clear strategic compass: Opel will bring exciting, emission-free mobility to our customers and become a carbon neutral company by 2038. What are the future #goals in terms of sustainable production and sustainable business? What measures are already being taken today to reduce #CO² emissions?  💡        What makes Mercedes-Benz different? What #benefits does Mercedes-Benz offer? What can we do as a Mercedes-Benz dealership to provide our customers with the highest level of advice and leave no questions unanswered?  💡  and much more. .. Together with my colleagues, including Christin Tripp, Nicolas Zipfel, Kevin Amouzou and Mike Bondzio, these questions and exciting insights were answered and explained to the more than 120 participating employees from Dortmund, Unna and Lünen. Our employees were also able to exchange ideas outside of the training session - over a delicious buffet and drinks. This gave me the opportunity to provide information on the topic of sustainability at Mercedes-Benz AG and to talk about #Ambition2039, among other things. By 2039, Mercedes-Benz AG will make its entire fleet of new vehicles #CO²-neutral across all stages of the value chain and the entire life cycle. ⏸ As we reached the end of the first semester of 2023, I wanted to hit the "pause" button for a second to share my pride and celebrate the achievements of FORVIA Automotive Seating. We have made major progress and our #poleposition transformation program is fully on track. Let’s all take a look at some of the major milestones we've already accomplished this year: FORVIA has just announced remarkable results, with €13,6 billion of sales on H1 2023, with an operating margin of 5%. At FORVIA Seating, in just 6 months, our sales in the period account for an impressive 31% of the total. We have achieved +43% growth in China through our activity with BYD and a major US EV car maker, and a great performance in Europe (+19%). Our operating margin is progressively improving to 3.3% and includes a reduction of €20 million in extra costs. 💺 The revolution of automotive seating is in full swing: The highlight of #CES2023 in Las Vegas was the launch of our #modular #sustainable seat approach, a groundbreaking and equally disruptive innovation for our business. ♻️ Our commitment to sustainability, with a focus on eco-design and circularity for the seats’ conception. We introduced alternative, sustainable materials and developed Auraloop, our 100% recyclable polyester-based fibers cushioning solution. 🌏 Our strengthened industrial presence in strategic locations has been reinforced through the opening of several new plants, including the first plant combining Seating and Interiors activities in Monterrey in Mexico 🇲🇽, a new plant in Zhengzhou, China 🇨🇳, and more recently the first stone of a new plant in Salé, Morocco 🇲🇦. 🤝 Our expansion in the Asian market, where we are further strengthening our partnerships. At the beginning of the year, we signed a contract with Leapmotor. We will open soon our first Seating plant in Thailand in collaboration with our strategic partner BYD. The Shanghai #AutoShow23 was the perfect platform to showcase our latest innovations developed specifically in and for Asia, including the launch of our zero-gravity Captain Chair. This state-of-the-art seating product is packed with our best technology, delivering unmatched #comfort and personalized features to our Chinese customers. 📰 International recognition, with a strong media presence, especially in China, Germany & France. These very encouraging results are the direct consequences of everything we've put into action at FORVIA Seating, and as we look ahead to the second half of the year, I am extremely proud of and filled with anticipation for more exciting events and announcements to come.
