Covered California's best-in-class, all star research team is at it again! woot woot Marina Lovchikova! With increased affordability from the American Rescue Plan Act, the team conducted an RCT of an email nudge related to plan choice. The nudge caused a, statistically significant, 74% increase in plan switching and an increase in practitioner visits. While studies have proven that plans with high out of pocket costs get in the way of health, this study proves the inverse...that more affordable health care, leads to an increase in health care services. https://lnkd.in/gnuUbNvH

Respondents in the Milken Institute's study ranked preventive care, increasing access to primary care, and focusing on whole-person health as the top three tenets of accountable care. Most value-based care conversations focus on facilitating the payment mechanism, which is important, but Rob Allen, president and CEO of Intermountain Health, wants to talk more about alignment. When anyone asks him about value-based care, he responds: "What value for whom? What value are we creating and for whom are we creating it?"
