I recently had the pleasure of speaking on the CanadianSME Small Business Magazine Podcast in an episode on breaking barriers for women entrepreneurs: https://lnkd.in/g6R4FHWu We know from our community partners, particularly those that are providing low-barrier micro-loans to women and gender-diverse entrepreneurs, that return on investment is consistent and low risk for lenders. We see that women and gender-diverse entrepreneurs are generating economic growth and creating jobs, AND contributing to social, environmental, and gender equity goals. They are looking beyond profit and contributing to the community through their businesses, often because they have experienced discrimination in the labour market -- they know what it's like to come up against institutional barriers and they are actively working to break and not replicate the systems that uphold them. The "Partnering for Feminist Entrepreneurship" program at The Canadian Women's Foundation aims to create a more inclusive and supportive entrepreneurial ecosystem. As a former banker who championed a women's banking strategy, one of the most powerful assets I had was access to data. Data tells an important story and is critical in helping organizations understand the barriers, see opportunities and drive sustainable change. Canada's Women Entrepreneurship Knowledge Hub (WEKH) focuses on research to drive evidence based change strategies framed in our deep understanding of innovation models, organizational change and behavioral economics. If you are working to accelerate women's entrepreneurship, be sure to leverage the research at Women Entrepreneurship Knowledge Hub (WEKH) where you'll find: - practical evidence-based recommendations that impact women’s access to the financing, talent, networks and expertise they need to start up, scale up and access new markets - showcases of best practices from actors across the ecosystem - the most current data on women's entrepreneurship in Canada - inspiration and ideas for collaboration - a community of change agents who are championing and accelerating women's entrepreneurship in Canada Women Entrepreneurship Knowledge Hub (WEKH) Wendy Cukier Diversity Institute Rechie Valdez
