The Japan Times has an article talking about the various involved in localising and translating video game content from the Japanese market to that for western audiences. https://lnkd.in/e5UZmXST The article talks about how a large part of the localisation process, beyond just the linguistic translation from one language to another, focuses on reviewing and modifying the cultural elements of the game to ensure they fit the new audience. This is an even bigger issue as there are lot of remakes going on in the Japanese market now, updating 20-year-old games and bringing them to modern western audiences.
