𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐨𝐩𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐠𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐆𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐲 🎮🕹 Smartphones continue to reign supreme as the most popular platform for video games in Germany! 📱🎮 In 2023, an impressive 22.7 million Germans played games on their phones, holding steady from 2022's 22.8 million. Key insights from our latest report, based on data from Consumer Panel Services GfK: 📱 Mobile gaming: 24.6 million people play on smartphones, tablets, or both, with tablets attracting 10 million players despite a slight decline. 💻 PC gaming: For the first time since 2019, PC gaming saw a resurgence, growing by 600,000 players to 13.5 million. 🎮 Console gaming: Consoles remain the second most popular platform with 18.7 million players, showing a slight decrease after years of growth. 🔄 Multi-Platform play: A significant 18.3 million gamers enjoy gaming across multiple platforms. Felix Falk, Managing Director of game, notes: “The types of platforms video game players use are as diverse as the games they play and the community they are part of. Smartphones, as a particularly accessible platform, remain as popular as ever, and interest in PCs is growing again, as well. But the majority of players no longer limit themselves to a single platform, and the lines between the individual platforms are increasingly blurred. This development is evident in trends like cross-platform play, which is extremely common these days, as well as the consistent growth in cloud gaming services that make it possible to play PC and console games on mobile devices.” #gamesindustry #gamingindustry #mobilegaming #pcgaming #gaming GfK - An NIQ Company

Time spent with media exploded this year and gaming was no exception. n China and Brazil, players on mobile platforms tend to spend more time hunched over their smartphones than in the other markets. 46 percent of Chinese survey respondents claim to play more than one hour in an average smartphone gaming session, and one in five respondents even puts in more than two hours per session on average. Brazil, a comparatively small video game market, showcases a similar tendency towards longer play sessions. There, 39 percent of smartphone gamers play for more than one hour per session. Mobile games are the most lucrative segment of the video game market, even though year-over-year growth has slowed compared to other industry segments, according to a Newzoo forecast from August 2023. Nevertheless, smartphone and tablet games contribute almost 50 percent to the total video games revenue, with some smartphone games like Genshin Impact or PUBG Mobile being more profitable than whole studio conglomerates focusing on high production value titles.
