Games for Change Festival 2024: A Catalyst for Global Change 🎮🌐 Last week, the 2024 Games for Change Festival took place in New York City, and we were honored to be part of the Video Games Europe delegation for this extraordinary event. Inspired by the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, this year's festival focused on "The 2030 Marker: A Catalyst for Global Change." It was a phenomenal experience where global voices united to showcase how games and XR technologies can drive community engagement, social change, and innovation in sustainability, accessibility, health, and education. Our very own Velyana Richter represented game as part of the Video Games Europe delegation, alongside esteemed European colleagues Alberto Simonetti (IIDEA), Andreea Medvedovici Per (European Games Developer Federation (EGDF) & Romanian Game Developers Association), and Dominika Urbańska-Galanciak (SPiDOR). A heartfelt thank you to Tatiana Skliarenko, Manager of International Programmes, and Tania Hack, Senior Director of International Programs, for your fantastic support during the festival and to Susanna Pollack, President at Games for Change and Arana Shapiro, CPO for being our hosts. Your efforts made the experience smooth and enriching for Velyana and the entire delegation. Your commitment to fostering international collaboration is much appreciated. ❤ The Games for Change Festival highlighted the important role our industry can play in addressing global challenges. During the two days of the festival, the delegation experienced exciting talks, fireside chats, took part in speed-networking sessions and met many inspiring people from the industry, science, education and non-profit organisations, all working towards the goal of showing the outstanding potential of games and how they can change the world. In the two days leading up to the festival, the VGE delegation visited the Quest To Learn NYC, which uses innovative educational methods through games, took a trip to the United Nations headquarters to learn more about their Sustainable Development Goals, and a visit to the NYU Create Lab to attend a presentation on the new research project RITEC (by UNICEF), which focuses on how video games can promote children's well-being. Thank you to everyone who made this event so memorable. We look forward to continuing these important discussions and contributing to a sustainable and inclusive future through games. 🎮💚 #GamesForChange #G4C2024 #G4C #gamesindustry #gamingindustry #sustainability #gamification
