COMMUNITY IS WINNING 🚨 $21 M Raised By Noice by Supercell And Others Noice is a multiplayer game and live-streaming gaming platform. CEO, Jussi Laakkonen calls the platform a WIN-WIN-WIN situation. The community narrative is growing. What's Noice? "On Noice, you are an active participant on stream: you play a multiplayer game as you watch your favorite creator and show your fandom in a deep metagame." Why does this matter? 1. Gamers are tired of current ways of engaging with their favorite creator. 2. Game Developers need discoverability in the current gaming environment. 3. Emphasizing the importance of community - it matters when creating a game, fan, and content. I am looking forward to seeing more tech push towards a community-oriented thesis! Creator Economy FTW! @revv is leaning into the creator economy to continue to support digital communities like NOICE. Hyped to see tooling like this continue to come out!

Software engineer, Entrepreneur and Game Developer with Startup mindset. Working on Times of Survival
How to Stay Sane During a Fundraising Campaign Fundraising for a game development project is incredibly challenging. Here are some realities and tips based on my recent experience. As many of you may know, we are currently in active fundraising. We are Can Games Studio based in London—Can Games, because we CAN. Right now, we are working on our debut title, Times of Survival. Think of it as Helldivers 2 meets Project Zomboid. Check out our gameplay video https://lnkd.in/eRRXKK2q and visit our website for more details: https://lnkd.in/g-R2nYa7 Challenges I Faced: Lack of Responses: Cold emails and forms often go unanswered. Limited Options: The gaming industry has fewer dedicated funds compared to fintech, medtech, or any other tech sector. Market Focus: Many funds are focused on trending sectors like crypto and Web3. Expectations: Early-stage investors expect near-complete projects, and publishers forget that development requires significant upfront investment. Despite these hurdles, I firmly believe in our project. Here’s why: Impressive Progress: Our small team has developed a compelling demo in just three months. Potential: Imagine what we could achieve in two years with proper funding. Community Support: The gaming community's reaction to our game has been incredibly inspiring. Everyone loves it, and the enthusiasm is overwhelming. We are committed to making this game for them, no matter what. What I’ve Learned: Networking is Key: All successful calls have come from personal contacts, not cold outreach. Persistence: Dealing with constant silence is exhausting, but giving up is not an option. Passion: Despite the frustration, my passion for the project and the gaming industry remains strong. Community Support: The positive feedback from the gaming community motivates us to push forward and deliver the best game possible. This post isn’t about "successful success". It's a candid reflection on the difficulties of game development fundraising. I’m exploring alternative funding routes, like direct support from our future players. To all my fellow developers: stay strong. The journey is tough, but our passion for creating amazing games will drive us forward. #GameDev #Fundraising #Startups #IndieGames #Persistence #Networking

#weekendfun I had a great conversation with Karessa Torgerson .. We have a lot in common in futures thinking and scenario building and I think we're going to learn a lot from each other. We were talking about books and inspiration and I came across this today that not suggest to something that We work on in the guild. It's a game that was invented in 2015 and has a lot of residence now. It's called commonsopoly...based on a game invented by a woman in the dirty thirties... obviously riff on that other more famous game Monopoly... but it's about the commons something we should be building right? Doyle Buehler I have another idea for another game.. Let's talk about this here are the notes for the game. ---- perplexity.ai Commonsopoly is a non-profit, open-source board game that encourages a culture of cooperation and challenges the traditional model of neoliberal privatization. The game's design principles draw on insights from commoning practices, encouraging players to pool their resources and act collectively rather than competing to accumulate goods. The objective is to create a society where working together furthers the common good. It serves as an educational tool, supporting peer-learning and critical discussion about commons by fostering mutuality, solidarity, and collective action. The first prototype of Commonsopoly was created at the 17th ZEMOS98 festival in Seville in 2015. The game was developed as a hack of the popular board game Monopoly, with the aim of promoting cooperation over land monopolization, rent extraction, and driving competing players to bankruptcy. In Commonsopoly, players work together to convert private spaces on the game board to public and eventually into common holdings. The game features a struggle between a Speculator player character, who wants to privatize everything, and the rest of the players, who aim to take assets into common ownership and fight against capitalist speculation. Commonsopoly has four types of goods: environmental, urban, intangible or knowledge-based, and health or care-related. Cooperation is the only way to win in this game. The game celebrates "radical happiness," those moments of collective joy that arise when people share a common understanding of active participation in society. Commonsopoly feeds the players' desire to cooperate and allows for free experimentation, discovery, and learning around socio-economic questions that arise in real, everyday life. The game has undergone several iterations and is available in different languages as print-ready files for private use or purchase. Commonsopoly embodies values of commons and encourages collective, distributed authorship. New game versions created by players are distributed under the Peer Production License, ensuring inclusion of diverse personal experiences of the commons and creating an open space for ongoing re-negotiation. Through these playing formats and development strategies.. Sean Moffitt masterclass.
