We had a great week in DC at IAPP - International Association of Privacy Professionals #GPS24. We attended many interesting (and useful) talks and panels, met up with program members and friends, and collected some great swag. Check out the pics from Stacy’s workshop on kids’and teens’ privacy, the closing session main stage area, and our best “gift” - a complementary copy of Kashmir Hill’s new book inscribed to ESRB Privacy Certified (with the corrected video game-inspired title).

Curious how zero knowledge tech can be used to verify identity documents? Aleo's zPass protocol lets users to upload identity documents offline to privacy servers and share anonymous “proofs” to organizations. zPass is based on a research paper on “zk-creds” designed to use zero knowledge for age verification. https://lnkd.in/eipfaY-N

In this video, I'm discussing computer crimes, relevant timelines, Acts, and Laws for the #cissp exam. Understanding the history of these legislations is crucial for gaining confidence in the exam. It all starts with the Comprehensive Crime Control Act (#CCCA) in 1984, which initially dealt with computer crimes. Then, in 1986, the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (#CFAA) was introduced specifically for computer-related crimes. In 1991, the Federal Sentencing Guidelines provided punishment guidelines. Moving forward, in 1994, the Computer Abuse Amendment Act allowed imprisonment regardless of intent. In 1996, the National Information Infrastructure Protection Act extended computer crime laws to national infrastructure assets. In 2002, the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) centralized federal cybersecurity efforts. In 2010, #NIST developed the Risk Management Framework as an outcome of FISMA. Then, in 2014, there was a shift to modernization, decentralizing cybersecurity responsibilities between the Department of Homeland Security, CIA, FBI, and the Pentagon. This modernization led to the introduction of the Federal Information Security Modernization Act (FISMA), the Cybersecurity Enhancement Act, and the Cybersecurity Framework (CSF), with the National Cybersecurity Protection Act (NCPA) facilitating information sharing between agencies. I'm presenting this information visually using Microsoft Visio to help you grasp the timeline better. It's essential to understand these key points for the CISSP exam. https://lnkd.in/gN9zSnj8

Happy Data Privacy Week! At Keep Kids Safe and Connected, we're proud to contribute to the emphasis on the crucial importance of safeguarding our personal information. Data Privacy Week is a global awareness campaign, highlighting the significance of data protection. This year's theme, "Take Control of Your Data," resonates deeply with us. Kids, in particular, face increased vulnerability to online data exposure through platforms like social media, shopping, and online gaming, putting them at risk of identity theft. Unfortunately, bills such as the Kids Online Safety Act may inadvertently lead to children divulging more information for age verification, thereby compromising their privacy. It's crucial for Congress to step up and enact measures that truly empower our kids to take control of their data. https://lnkd.in/e-PCKXaz
