Once a future shrouded in gloom, I'm hopeful that with this acquisition, Microsoft Gaming and Phil Spencer can once again reignite competition in the gaming space.
Some key changes I would like to see that would definetely elevate many of Activision's current library of games, more specifically within the FPS genre:
-Focusing on organic player-retention in such games through more rewarding player-progressions, rather than the over-selling of MTX's.
-Continuing the practice of cross-platform play and cross-progressions, hopefully extending to mobile, and future Nintendo consoles.
-Remaining faithful to the principles of zero-exclusivity and 'Day-1 on all platforms' approach.
-Deepening the library of games that can be accessed through cloud and mobile gaming.
-Encourage developers to create a well-polished AAA title, rather than an unfinished live-service model.
MOST IMPORTANTLY... COMMUNICATION!
-Transparency and honesty must always remain at the forefront of the player-developer relationship, whether it be the good, bad or the ugly.
I'm hopeful that this acquisition will become the catalyst for change in the gaming space, in terms of bolstering competition and encouraging innovation, or simply put, encouraging developers to create new titles that they can genuinely feel passionately and strongly about!
