For the people who fought or lost loved ones on June 6th, 1944, 80 years ago feels like yesterday. While preparing to return to Normandy to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day, we uncovered a connection to the history of this day in our own home. Chief Marketing Officer Alicia Tillman and her husband, Bill Tillman, graciously share memories of his grandfather’s legacy, experiences with the 50+ World War II veterans that made the return trip, and warm welcomes from the citizens of France.

What a poignant and touching reflection on the significance of D-Day and the incredible stories tied to this historic event. The connection to Normandy through Alicia Tillman and Bill Tillman shared memories is inspiring and humbling. It’s heartwarming to see such personal histories being honored and remembered, especially through the eyes of those who experienced it and their families. The warm welcomes from the citizens of France to the veterans and their families exemplify the enduring gratitude and respect for the sacrifices made. Thank you for sharing this moving tribute and keeping the legacy of these heroes alive.

Well done Delta! I made my third trip back to Normandy for the 80th anniversary and met some of the vets while there. These vets are almost gone and to be able to have met and talk to them in Normandy is priceless! My grandfather fought on Iwo Jima and while in Normandy this time I met a vet that also fought on Iwo Jima! It’s not easy to get these vets back there as most are in wheelchairs so what Delta does to help make this happen is huge ! Thank you!

My dad was in WWII as crew for a B17 with the 457th BG out of Glotton England kind of weird, because most people my age their grand father was in WWII.

My uncle Donald Jaeger (USN), for whom I am named, still rests just off the coast of Normandy with his shipmates of the the USS Partridge (torpedoed, 11 June 1944).
