This is unacceptable* I saw a recently posted Senior Graphic Designer role, and I was astonished by the extensive requirements. Designers are specialized, not tried to master everything. Companies should stop expecting all-in-one employees; greatness requires a collaborative team effort. Expecting one person to excel at everything is unrealistic and diminishes potential greatness. Creative Directors and hiring managers, reconsider these expectations for a more realistic and effective approach.

Freelance Designer & Developer | Teacher | Content Creator, Helping companies to stand out by creating strong visual concepts that lead to higher conversion rates
The trend goes on and on ! Nowadays a Graphic Designer = ['Web Developer', 'UI/UX Designer', 'SEO Specialist', 'Motion Designer'], basically a whole digital team ! In the past, designers used to specialize rather than aiming to master every skill. It's time for companies to rethink their expectations and move away from seeking all-in-one employees. Achieving greatness in design demands collaborative teamwork rather than placing unrealistic burdens on individuals. Hiring managers should reconsider their approach, opting for more realistic expectations to foster genuine effectiveness.
This is unacceptable. A friend recently posted a Senior Graphic Designer role, and I was astonished by the extensive requirements. In my time, designers specialized, not tried to master everything. Companies should stop expecting all-in-one employees; greatness requires a collaborative team effort. Expecting one person to excel at everything is unrealistic and diminishes potential greatness. Creative Directors and hiring managers, reconsider these expectations for a more realistic and effective approach. ……especially for a Sr Graphic Designer. #hiring #jobseekers #hiringmanagers #designer

Thank you for this take, Rich. In my opinion, this goes for all fields. For me it's been difficult to find postings where I'm the right applicant for the job because of certain requirements. That being said, it doesn't hurt to apply and give what you already have instilled within you. What do you have to lose? NOTHING. If you believe you are qualified and meet most, if not all, of the requirements listed, why not give it a go? I ask you all this: Don't stop applying. Don't stop posting. Don't stop networking. Don't. Stop. Period. I believe in you. Don't give up. You got this. We got this. Thank you for reading my post. #opentowork #editor #editing #proofreader #proofreading #publishing #jobseeker #seekingwork #seekingemployment

Dear "Designers" recruiters, I'd like to express some important POINTS because I'm quite frustrated with the generic job descriptions that seem to apply to graphic designers, UI/UX designers, branding designers, motion designers, video editors, photographers, videographers... WHICH ARE BY THE WAY DIFFERENT SPECIALTIES !!! These roles require distinct skills and expertise... Also when requesting portfolios, please try to provide the option to include links or properly scan QR codes for direct access, or allow larger file uploads exceeding 10MB to showcase substantial work. Paying attention to these details is essential for receiving quality portfolios. It feels Great to speak this up because i've had seriously enough of this.

“I can work 8 to 10 hours day. Even more, if you want.” I was having a conversation with a potential team member. After discussing her current schedule, I asked her ideally how much would she like to work. This was her answer. I’m not taking this at face value. She may not want to work so much on a daily basis. Yet, she would not shy away from putting in this much time. Why? Divyank and I have worked on a principle that Jason Fried confirmed for us later. If someone is constantly overworking, the system is broken. It cannot sustain in the medium or long term. I am aware that I cannot change the world overnight. But let me start by changing something for one person. The Wise Idiot is hiring graphic designers. If you create minimal design, are up for identifying and fixing your mistakes, and are obsessed with making good things better, DM me your portfolio.
