In reflection on the 2023 season, what were the key learnings or pivotal moments that you believe will shape the team's approach and strategy heading into next season?

I was watching the F1 Montreal race yesterday. George Russel was in second trying to overtake Max Verstappen for the lead. He missed the execution and actually lost second place to Lando Norris. This can only be speculation, but it seemed like he was so focused that on overtaking and being in first that he lost sight and therefore his attention on what was most important. Whether that be the correct strategy for overtaking, being in the right place on the track, or any number of things. There are so many moving parts, at such high speeds in F1 it’s hard to say what the right place and the right time to focus attention is. However, I can say one thing. Focusing on the person ahead of you and the place you are not in is likely the wrong place to focus when you’re trying to execute a precise and accurate maneuver.

February and March are the two busiest months when it comes to announcing new partnerships in F1. It will be interesting to follow if the two upcoming U.S. races will result in some new partnership announcements or if the current #F1 network is closed for 2023. #F12023

From tomorrow's Business of Motorsport column: If you are wondering whether the current F1 teams reticence to admit any new teams to the F1 grid is a current phenomena, it is not. I am currently reading the excellent book The Toleman Story: Last Romantics in Formula 1 by Christopher Hilton. Here is a quote from Toleman Team Manager Alex Hawkridge as they were preparing to enter Formula 1 in 1981: "The Teams in Formula 1 just want the status quo, just want things to stay the way they are. 🏎️ F1 NEWS 🏎️ 🏎️A new points structure, which would award points to the top 12 finishers from 2025, will be discussed between F1, the FIA and teams. 🏎️The current proposal would leave the top seven positions intact, with 8th place receiving five points, 9th four, 10th three, 11th two and 12th the final point. 🏎️While a change for next season does not require unanimity among the teams, with 6 out of 10 voting in favour would be sufficient, it is possible that they will agree to analyse its impact further and make a decision later this year. 🏎️The aim is to give more prominence to the lower midfield of the table, where after the Chinese GP, Williams, Sauber and Alpine have yet to score points, despite falling just short on several occasions. Could be an interesting move for the middle part of the table. What do you think?🤔🤔

Why do you watch Formula 1 when it's so predictable? I watch it for days like today. Days where the predictability goes out the window and we're left with the best of the best competing against each other for that pole position. 🏆 As negatively shocking as it is to see neither Red Bull in the top 10 for tomorrow's starting grid, it is equally positively shocking to see the 2 starting rows for tomorrow. A Ferrari-Mercedes-Ferrari-McLaren frontline means lots of chances for some great competing and overtaking (though it is much harder to overtake on a tight street circuit like Marina Bay). And, on a side note, how about some recognition for that insane stint Liam Lawson pulled to kick Max Verstappen out of Q1? Overall, today saw a very shocking and entertaining quali session which means that tomorrow is looking to be even more interesting!! 🏎 🏁 #formula1 #f1 #ferrari #redbullracing #mclarenf1 #mercedesamg #motorsports #f1qualifying #alphatauri
