Happy International Women's Day! 😍 What games are we making for people like my mom who play games daily? My mom makes it a point to play games on her iPad every night before going to bed, she says this helps her to relax and exercise her brain. Throughout my career in video games, it fills me with curiosity to think about what other types of games women like our moms and grandmas would have played, had they been exposed to them. But the reality - that even reaching 'parity' will take effort from everyone - starts with challenging how we perceive safety and equity, and we accept why this is fundamentally important. Inclusivity in creative technology matters. Did you know: 💔 Women receive just 1.9% of VC funding. 💔 Also, 60% of women who play <mobile> games believe that 30% of mobile games are created for them. 💔 Unsurprisingly, the representation of female game devs varies between 1-25% in most game studios. 💔 Yet 48% of our player demographics identify as female (more if we consider non-binary and trans)! A few thoughts on what we can do: 🤔 I can't believe I have to say this: Stop using LinkedIn as a means to date women online. 👨🏽⚖️ Where possible, consider donating your time, or financial resources if you can mentor or support organizations like Diversity in Games, Women in Games , Women in Tech World (WiTWorld). 👨🏽💻 Highlight the successes and contributions of female, trans, or non-binary-led content through social media, awards, or speaking opportunities. 🧠 Even if you don't identify as a woman, get involved with local educational institutions like Vancouver Film School, Vancouver Community College (VCC), Northeastern University Vancouver and support more underrepresented folks getting into the industry. 📢 Advocate for policies that support gender equality and address issues like harassment and discrimination in the industry. Speak UP when something feels so wrong it can't be right. #gamesindustry #creativetechnology #womenentrepreneurs #internationalwomensday2024 #diversity #equity #inclusivity
Who's making games for your grandma? As we celebrate International Women's Day, and as we seek to honor the women in our lives, we asked this question, and our followers answered! 🌟 65% of the women in our lives (quite possibly more) are playing a mobile daily or very close to it! It's a primary source of "ME" time for many women. But how many games are being made specifically for them?🌟 ❤️ #iwd2024 #celebratediversity #grandma #mobilegames #gaming #grandmaplaysgamestoo #gamesforgrandma #wordmatter #playtime #metime #internationalwomensday #iwd #representationmatters #equity #inclusion (Photo credit: a mother and a grandma, courtesy of Carina Kom!)

Apparently, Women's Month is over, however, let’s support women not just one month a year but all year long. My special shout-out goes to my wonderful colleague Diana Petru for her endless support and encouragement, not only when it came to the creation of the great Women’s Day video. 🌷 For all the women out there working as managers, and leaders let’s share your knowledge, and best practices and support other women in gaming to keep leveling up. Let’s make the sisterhood in our industry strong and unique compared to other ones. 💫💫 #wargaming #worldofwarships #womeningaming #gamingindustry

Product Owner @Dassault Systèmes // I balance customer needs and business goals to bring user-valued solutions to market
Today, 46% of video game players identify as female. While the industry still has misogyny, it is steadily becoming more inclusive, and a new generation of women are proudly gaming to challenge themselves, improve their cognitive skills, relieve stress and connect with others. More people are realizing the positive benefits of gaming, and there’s even some talk that gaming could have the potential to inspire a younger generation of girls to pursue a career in STEM – a field still very much in need of greater gender diversity. Is gaming the gateway to more women in STEM

Working in the game industry - The only girl in the team https://ift.tt/eP0ASGx . Summary: In this LinkedIn post, I share my experiences as a woman working in the game industry in Brazil. I discuss the common perceptions about the game industry and how Brazil has a thriving game development culture. I talk about the typical questions I receive and address the lack of women in the industry. I emphasize the need for equal opportunities and hope to inspire young girls to pursue careers in development. I also express my aspirations to create a game developed entirely by women and take a more active role in the game development community. Takeaway: There is still work to be done to ensure equal opportunities for women in the game development industry. By raising awareness, fostering connections, and nurturing diversity, we can create a more inclusive and vibrant industry.
