Have you seen or heard about TikTok's new creative AI tool, Symphony Avatars? To help both brands and creators take their creativity and content to the next level, TikTok introduced two types of Digital Avatars: 1) Stock Avatars: pre-built avatars created using paid actors that are licensed for commercial use. 2) Custom Avatars: crafted to represent a creator or a brand spokesperson with multi-language abilities, giving creators and marketers the control and power to scale their likeness and brand. With 58% of TikTok users saying they are more likely to trust brands after learning about them from TikTok creators, avatars can help scale and globalize branded content. However, it will be interesting to see if these digital creators can replicate the personalized, human feel of a real person to actually drive results. So far, I've found that AI-powered ads can help drive better performance, but AI generated ads aren't quite there yet. For example, we've seen scripting with AI or overlaying AI voice overs can be a really easy way to produce high performing ads quickly. However, softwares that use AI avatars had a bit more of an uncanny valley to them and didn't perform as well. However, I will admit, this is one of the most impressive demos I've seen and need to play around a bit more myself to see if digital avatars look this good out of the box. In the coming months, we will see Meta introduce a new approach to labelling realistic AI-generated organic media. This will either be by automated labelling on images from several AI tools, or self-disclosure on video and audio.
