- You can use virtual backgrounds and other video effects to enhance how people see you in a Teams meeting. I have a meeting on my calendar with a coworker, I'll click the join button to join that. We start at this join screen where I'll check my microphone and my camera. And you can enable your video effects here on the join screen, or you can set them after you join the meeting. If you want to set them from this join screen, you should click where it says effects and avatars. In the past, this button has had other labels, including background effects. In fact, the background effects feature is something that has been updated many times and you should be prepared for more changes in the future. When we click on this, we see a tab for video effects and a tab for avatars. Now in the avatar tab, you can design an animated character that represents you in a meeting.
