- [Instructor] When you work with dates and times, 2 there's some concepts, some ideas 3 you should be familiar with. 4 On this worksheet, we've got some dates in column B. 5 When you type dates, you can use slash or dash 6 and Excel evaluates any kind of entry 7 that has slashes and dashes. 8 If they are dates, they're automatically right aligned. 9 So 2 slash 3 slash 7 actually is valid. 10 That is February 3rd, 2007. 11 It's best also to use a display that shows four digit years. 12 Occasionally you'll run into some problems 13 if these are two digit year displays. 14 We'll get to that in a moment. 15 We can also do date based math. 16 We've got two dates here, starting date, ending date, 17 how much time has elapsed? 18 Here's a formula.
