- [Instructor] Excel's Unique function 2 introduced about two years ago 3 is a valuable tool for extracting data from a list. 4 And one of its most common uses is likely to be 5 as we're about to use it in column F here, a list of all 6 of our different departments that appear in column B. 7 This list is about 400 rows deep. 8 We want to come up with a list 9 that shows every department listed once and only once. 10 Now, possibly we'd have a need not so much on that column 11 because every department would have more than one employee. 12 We might want to come up with a list here, those states 13 that appear here just once. 14 And so as we use this function, sometimes we want 15 to make a distinction between the word Unique, which means 16 as we use it in the function here, all entries 17 that appear just once versus Distinct. 18 All the possible entries within a range listed once. 19 It's that second use using the word…
