- [Instructor] Excel's data validation feature 2 is a powerful tool. 3 For many users, its primary use is to keep out bad data. 4 For example, in the list reviewing here 5 in columns A through H, 6 you might have a rule set up by way of data validation 7 to make sure that all those entries 8 in column H fall within a certain range. 9 Or perhaps the ID numbers 10 have to be a certain number of characters. 11 So, lots of ways to set up rules. 12 Another use of data validation is to set up 13 what we loosely call a dropdown list or a pick list. 14 And there's been a major change 15 in how that feature has been implemented. 16 Over in the green panel, 17 we see a reference to the term auto-complete. 18 There's an automatic filtering capability, 19 and if you haven't used the feature in the past, 20 you wouldn't necessarily know 21 the magnitude of this improvement. 22 But let's show an example of how this works 23…
