- [Instructor] What we're seeing on the screen here is 2 a sea of numbers. 3 It's the population of every United States state 4 from 1790 to 2020, 5 and way too much information 6 for any kind of a presentation. 7 One quick adjustment here 8 that could be helpful is simply 9 to select all these numbers 10 and a quick formatting change here. 11 Format cells. 12 Ctrl+1 is a fast way to get there. 13 Go to the number tab, 14 if it's not already selected. 15 And under "custom," 16 we can choose, for example, 17 any one of these entries, 18 but end it with a comma 19 and that means display this in thousands. 20 What it really means is "do not show three characters 21 "to the left of the decimal." 22 So that's going to be helpful. 23 We could readjust the column widths if we want. 24 Conditional formatting is in effect here, 25 and the green cells represent 26 the state that, for each census, 27 is the highest…
