- [Presenter] Excel has three functions that begin with the word "Rand." We're talking about the ability to generate random numbers and although there's wide mathematical usage for these functions, but we can also use them on the list like this, it's a few hundred rows deep. Periodically I want to sort this in random order and just pick the first five or six, review the details. It's my form of quality control. So how do we sort the list in a random order? Right now it's sorted by ID number. In column G, we'll use a function called "Rand," followed by parenthesis, we need only type that open part of the parenthesis and enter. There's our random number. I'll double click the fill handle in the lower right hand corner and fill up the column with random numbers. And then clicking on any one of these on the data tab in the ribbon, we can click either the A-Z or the Z-A button, the list is now sorted, it's in random…
