- [Narrator] In Excel, there's a feature called a custom list, and it has two major uses. When you're working with lists, sometimes you want to sort the list. For example, in this list here right now it's sorted by employee name. If I want to sort this descending order by salary, I'll click somewhere over in column F, not the column itself, but somewhere in that column, and then on the data tab, this is one of a number of different ways to sort the data, I'll sort either ascending AZ, which puts the lower salaries first, and some of those are for half-time employees, or reverse order, descending order. And we can do that with different columns and it's certainly handy at different times. Now a more specialized use might be what I want to do with column I. Column I is simply a formula that reflects the data in column H, but it's displayed by month. So what I'd like to be able to do here is to come up with a list of…
