- [Instructor] If you're working with data where both date and time are important elements, you need to be aware of two functions: the TODAY function and the NOW function. These are dynamic functions that allow us to keep track of information on a daily, or even minute-by-minute, even second-by-second basis, if necessary. And cell B2, I'm going to be typing =today, like all functions followed by parenthesis. We need to only type the open one. There we are, and Enter. And at the time of this recording, it's February 12th, 2024. If I save this file and open it tomorrow, we'll see 2/13/2024 here. Time works similarly with the NOW function. =now, open parenthesis, Enter, and there we are and we see both date and time. As we work with the data, you're much more likely to be using the TODAY function, usually the date is likely to be much more important than time.
