- [Instructor] You can use Excel's XLOOKUP function to replace all occurrences of VLOOKUP and HLOOKUP, even when they're involved with what we call an approximate match. On this worksheet called XLOOKUP Approximate, we're trying to come up with the tax rate here for the salaries. And unlike when using VLOOKUP, where the day that we're trying to compare is in the left column of a list, here it's in the right column. And we don't worry about that with XLOOKUP. But if it's an approximate match, it's a bit more involved than an exact match. The example here equal, remember we can type X + L + Tab. The salary is in cell C2, comma, and we're looking for a match in column H, comma. When we find a match, we go into column G. But this is not an exact match. So we have to do something extra.
