- Now it's time for us to get into the legalities of LGBTQ+ equity in our workplaces. I'll be guiding us through legislation around the world that either protects or hinders LGBTQ+ people in their professional pursuits. This list is not exhaustive, but for people interested, a greatly extensive and detailed resource is Our Identities Under Arrest, a publication by the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association, otherwise known as ILGA World. Let's get into it. In 2020, the United States Supreme Court ruled in the legal case Bostock v. Clayton County, that firing employees because of their sexual orientation or gender identity is sex discrimination that violates federal law. This was significant, but it left out other forms of LGBTQ+ discrimination. It left them up for interpretation, and that's why there have been efforts since then to pass a bill known as The Equality Act, which would include sexual orientation and gender identity as protected statuses under…
