If you had a choice to email, call, or text someone, which would you choose and why? If you picked email or text, you might feel that making a phone call is a thing of the past. The shifts in communication from human interaction to digital interaction may lead you to believe that phone etiquette is obsolete. But consider this instead. Think about how much you actually use your phone. You send texts, answer phone calls, or leave voicemail messages, and voice notes. So it isn't that phone etiquette is outdated, it just needs to be updated. Many industries like sales, real estate, law, finance, recruiting, and entertainment use their phones daily. Others not so much. Whether or not phone calls are part of your role, you might find yourself using the phone when interviewing, networking, setting up appointments, reaching out to colleagues or clients, or contacting businesses for information.
