The Temporary Sound Designer/Audio Director will collaborate with the IT department and performing arts faculty members of the School. The temporary Sound Designer/Audio Director is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining the audio equipment and providing direct support for events that require presentation and performance technology, particularly in our Black Box Theater. This position may also assist with the sound design needs of miscellaneous school events.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities Include The Following
Planning production sound needs which includes but not limited to productions meetings, designer runs and all technical rehearsals and performances
Designing and collaborating with the Performing Arts faculty for sound system needs
Oversee student technicians in the booth (Student Stage Manager, lighting and sound assistants)
Assist with technical rehearsals and performances of the production to ensure the highest possible quality of all audio elements.
Oversee striking of sound department and assist with all production strike
Assist with setup and programing lights for school events as needed
All other duties as assigned by the Director of IT
AA Degree in technical theatre with a minimum of 2 years of experience in sound for theatrical productions
Bachelors or higher preferred
Extensive experience working with and operating Shure wireless microphones, Yamaha digital sound boards, and power distribution systems
Experience working/teaching students to impart technical knowledge in the area of sound
Experience in education and/or independent schools preferred
Excellent communication, time management and multitasking skills
Ability to lift 50lbs
Availability to work some evenings and weekends
