About The Role

In the role of Quality Assurance Specialist, reporting to the Principal Vice President of Mortgage Lending, you will be responsible for assisting with the overall monitoring of operational quality by reviewing documentation related to the mortgage process to ensure accuracy and compliance in accordance with Lafayette Federal and regulatory guidelines.

Requirements

A day in the life of the Quality Assurance Specialist will include:

  • Reviewing mortgage disclosures (including Loan Estimates, Closing Disclosures, and Residential Loan Applications) prior to being issued to borrowers
  • Working collaboratively with department heads on the implementation and tracking of policies, procedures and processes, and the compliance of regulations
  • Investigating and escalating deficiencies in loan quality through the mortgage process
  • Reviewing the mortgage pipeline on a weekly basis to ensure accurate disposition of loan files in a timely manner, to meet HMDA and Reg B requirements
  • Monitoring incoming mortgage applications through the disclosure process and ensure regulatory and policy timeframes are met
  • Providing direct feedback to employees to aid in the refinement of existing quality, skills, and the development of new skills
  • Maintaining lending compliance including but not limited to: early disclosures and customer information procedures
  • Being responsible for compiling HMDA data, reviewing for and remediating errors and submitting to Principal Vice President of Mortgage Lending monthly
  • Aiding with investor sales, transfers, post-closing reviews, and funding
  • Attending mortgage quality and compliance related training sessions
  • Being responsible for understanding and complying on an accurate and timely basis with all Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering/OFAC requirements that pertain to your position at Lafayette Federal and as directed by management and/or the Senior Vice President of Risk Management,
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Principal Vice President of Mortgage Lending and/or the Senior Vice President of Mortgage Lending.

Experience/Education

  • Minimum of five years of mortgage banking experience, preferably at a regulated financial institution
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • A two year college degree or above preferred
  • Knowledge of the Mortgage Industry’s primary and secondary markets preferred
  • Calyx experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of MS Office applications including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel and other applications
