Job Description

We are a small, privately-owned OEM based in Manchester, CT, seeking several CNC Machinists with varying experience levels to join our machine shop team.

Our company, with German roots, primarily uses metric measurements for our machined parts. We operate in a high setup environment, so understanding setups is essential. Our machining work supports both in-house product development and our spare parts business. As a small manufacturer, we provide a close-knit, team-oriented environment.

Position Details

We are hiring two experienced CNC Machinists for full-time, first-shift roles. Ideal candidates should have:

  • 3-5+ years of experience in setting up and operating CNC mills and/or lathes, with a primary focus on CNC mills. Experience with manual machines is a plus. (Equipment includes CNC vertical mills, Hardinge Bridgeport with Okuma controls, Okuma lathe, and Samsung lathe with Fanuc control.)

Minimum Requirements

  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions with logical understanding.

  • Working knowledge of CNC machines, both turning and milling preferred.
  • Experience in setting up and operating various shop equipment, including CNC machining centers, CNC lathes, manual mills and lathes, grinders, and saws.
  • Understanding of CNC programs, with a strong knowledge of G-code. Mastercam knowledge is a plus.
  • Experience in cutting tool selection, speeds, and feeds, with the ability to make tool adjustments and changes.
  • Ability to perform secondary operations like deburring.
  • Ability to operate multiple machines simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints and understanding geometric and standard tolerancing.
  • Skill in inspecting machined components for accuracy, completeness, and compliance using micrometers, calipers, and other standard tools.
  • Strong basic math and shop math skills, with experience in the metric system desired but not required.
  • Ability to read and use a tape measure.
  • Capability to maintain and clean machinery, tooling, and the work area in a safe, clean, and efficient manner.
  • Flexibility to multitask and adapt in a fast-evolving company.
  • Strong ability to understand written and oral instructions, listen attentively, ask questions, and clarify points as needed.

Preferred Experience (Not Mandatory)

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. with varying frequency.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of 2D or 3D CAD systems.
  • Experience with the metric system.
  • Knowledge of CNC Machining CAM systems.
  • Experience setting up and operating manual machines, milling, and turning.
  • Ability to set up and run multiple machines simultaneously.
  • Experience creating and maintaining machining operation data sheets and documentation.
  • Willingness to undertake other tasks as assigned by management.
