Financial Additions has partnered with a Family Office in their search for a Controller. The Controller is responsible for managing the company’s accounts payable, month-end close, and financial reporting functions. In leading these processes, they will be responsible for ensuring that best-in-class business processes and appropriate tools and technology are utilized to yield efficient and effective outcomes. The Controller will ensure that we are delivering timely and accurate financial reports. They will also operate on the front lines of our various compliance efforts, including our annual audit and tax compliance.
Duties and Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day accounting operations including accounts payable, general ledger accounting and treasury management
Responsible for leading and executing accurate and timely month end closes and completion of balance sheet reconciliations
Ensure accuracy of reported results; investigate and explain variances to prior months results
Drive preparation of monthly financial statements and detailed commentary supporting monthly results
Lead team of two high performing individual contributors, ensuring achievement of key goals and outcomes through regular performance management
Prepare and distribute monthly commission statements to sales representatives
Support various financial analysis, including budget vs actuals and various weekly and monthly business analytics
Lead annual financial statement audit process with external auditors and manage all tax compliance efforts with third party tax consultants
Identify and implement systems, tools and process changes to streamline the work of the accounting function and reduce time to close
Remain updated on changes to accounting guidance and lead research and resolution of any technical accounting matters as they arise
Support other ad hoc requests and projects as needed
Position Requirements
Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
CPA designation is a plus
8+ years of progressive accounting experience,
Strong knowledge and practical experience applying GAAP in support of effective technical accounting and financial reporting
Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with accounting software systems
Effective leadership and team management
A focus on nurturing talent and identifying growth opportunities
Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while effectively managing competing priorities
