The Town of Brewster is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Town Accountant. This position reports to the Finance Director and performs accounting and administrative work in assisting the Finance Director in the maintenance and processing of all Town financial records, accounts, transactions, and reports.
Duties include, but are not limited to monitoring expenditures of town funds, examine town and school bills and payrolls for appropriateness, accuracy, and availability of funds before payment; process weekly payroll and accounts payable warrants. Responsible for posting accounts payable and payroll warrants, cash receipts, and monthly journal entries into General Ledger. Assists the Finance Director in the preparation of monthly reconciliations of cash and receivables, and required local, state, and federal reports.
Associate’s degree in business, accounting, or a related field, and a minimum of 3 years of accounting or business experience, municipal experience preferred; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. This is a full time 37.5 hour a week position covered under the Town’s OPEIU Union Agreement, with a starting pay range of $31.54 - $35.49 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
