Nourishing people and the planet.

About us

Whole Foods was founded in 1980 on the belief that where food comes from, and how it’s grown, matters. It meant creating quality standards, working with suppliers who achieve them, and sharing that information with our customers. And it radically changed the way people understood and shopped for food. The result has been the highest quality natural and organic products, an unmatched experience in more than 500+ stores, with a passionate team of over 90,000 team members, 5 percent of our total net profits given back to our communities each year, and millions of customers who put their trust in us every day.

“In June 2013, I relocated to Nashville, TN, where I applied for a Whole Body Team Member position at the McEwen location. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Nutrition from Florida State University and needed a job after my move. I only planned to work at Whole Foods through the summer until I figured out the next steps in my career path. Eleven years later, it's safe to say I found them.   After becoming a Whole Body Associate Team Leader, I moved with the company to Jackson, MS, to be a part of one of the first Market Teams and then again to Asheville, NC, eventually becoming an Associate Store Team Leader. My most recent jump has landed me in Team Member Services as a Business Partner supporting Asheville, Knoxville, and Greenville in the Southeast Operational Area.   The main reason I have stayed is the culture: The leaders and leadership training have helped me grow professionally and personally. In the fall of 2018, I was chosen to go on a Whole Planet trip to Costa Rica. Standing next to the banana trees at Earth University and watching the train of bananas coming from the field into the sorting facility, I felt proud of where I work. Supporting these farms, the incredible work of our foundations, the local producers, and the genuine connections with our customers all make this a very special place to grow. I look forward to continuing my journey as I support my fellow Team Members on their own.” - Julie Browne, Sr. TMS Business Partner #HR #NourishPeople #NourishWellbeing #TeamWFM

#ICYMI: Huntington Station just joined the party 🎉 Last week we had the pleasure of opening the new 43,916-square-foot store in Long Island, NY — our seventh in the neighborhood. Some of our highlights from the day: 😋 Welcoming more than 300 customers with coffee and pastries from local favorites Sail Away Coffee Co. and Abe's 🚐 Donating a Nourishing our Neighborhoods van to We All We Got, Inc. and filling it with products in our Stuff the Van event to aid their local food rescue efforts 🥕 Stocking aisles with an array of certified organic, conventional and Sourced for Good produce, with more than 11 local farms and suppliers, like Tucker Farms and Cranbury Fields 🍞 Getting well-acquainted with the Bakery department, like local pastry offerings from Balthazar, pita bread from Angel Bakeries and muffins from Abe's 🍺 Browsing the extensive selection of craft beers and local suppliers, such as Money IPA from Barrier Brewing, Sun Up IPA from TALEA Beer Co., and Rose Cider from Sand City Brewing. 💚 Round of applause to all the Team Members, Store Team Leader Luis Alvarado and Associate Store Team Leaders Daniel Metzger and Zearyl Moore for a fun day Read more about the opening day: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gqR8U8Zk #NourishPeople #NourishPlanet #NourishConnection #NourishGrowth #TeamWFM

“I studied finance and economics in college and was immediately drawn to social entrepreneurship, anchored around the concept that business can be a force for good in the world. I began my career working for a fair trade retail start-up in Uganda and moved to Austin to work for a similar, eco-friendly women's retail brand. It was an incredible learning experience to play a role in starting a new business — from operations to production to management. The most rewarding part was directly seeing the impact on the lives of the various artisans who made our products.   After about eight years of working in start-ups, I was ready for a different experience that still championed social impact and immediately saw Whole Foods Market as an ideal place to land. The more I learned about their Purpose to nourish people and the planet, the more excited I got at the prospect of working here. I joined the team in 2018 as a Senior Analyst of Business Process Improvement. I have since learned so much about the organization and how to support change within the business as we took on new challenges, tools and processes. After leading a team of project managers within the Merchandising team, I had the opportunity to move over to Sustainability as the Principal Program Manager. These past two years have perfectly combined my passions and skills: I get to work with brilliant, sincerely wonderful people and help them operationalize their strategies.   I feel so fortunate to have a role that is as stimulating as it is impactful. I get to touch many areas that are material to our impact, from projects on food waste reduction to climate impact within our supply chain to reducing plastic in our stores. We'll be sharing our annual Impact Report next week: It's like a compilation of our 'Greatest Hits' throughout the year, and our teams reflect on the challenges we faced and celebrate all the small and big wins we achieved. I can't wait for everyone to see our collective efforts in building a more sustainable tomorrow!"   - Cameron Crake, Principal Program Manager #Sustainability #NourishPeople #NourishWellbeing #TeamWFM
