Needed: Database Developer and Administrator (Microsoft SQL, PostgreSQL, AWS/Azure) (Hybrid - Harrisburg, PA)   We are currently recruiting a Database Developer and Administrator for our client, a Commonwealth PA entity. The focus of this role is to manage, design, and optimize Microsoft SQL and PostgreSQL database systems which requires a deep understanding of database management, development, and architecture to ensure the reliability, security, and performance of the client’s data infrastructure. This contract position is long-term with funding approved until 6/30/2025. Further extensions are likely, and funding is approved every 12 months, 40 hours per week role. This position is mostly remote with occasional onsite visits as directed by the supervisor (typically 2-4 times/month) at our client’s offices located in Harrisburg PA. The chosen candidate will need to report onsite for equipment pick-up. The preferred candidates should reside within a 2-hour commute of Harrisburg, PA. However, I needed to leave my secure job at Edwards Lifesciences, a US-based medical device company that had a manufacturing facility in the Dominican Republic. Edwards is a great well-established company, where I learned a lot. My future at Edwards was promising. I had been appointed as one of the key talents at the company and was moving up the company ladder. Risking it all, I decided to accept another job opportunity and move to the Bay Area. This was not just a simple move. I was leaving my family, losing job security, and starting all over at a new company in a new country.
