When applying for a job - You'll stand out by 400% if you do this!! As a recruiter of 11 years I know a little when it comes to applying for jobs. Firstly, just because it says 100 people have applied doesn't mean they actually have. Some websites/platforms measure when someone clicks on a apply now button even before they've actually applied. So they may not have actually sent their CV across. Secondly even if they've sent their CV and applied properly. You'll always have on a good day 10% totally irrelevant and on a bad day as high as 60/70 totally irrelevant. The point here is don't worry! It might not even be 100 applicants, if you think you're relevant just apply! Now.. If you feel like the role would be good for you and you really want to speak to someone, then pick up the phone? Seriously. Call the company where you'd want to apply and just mention you've sent your CV across, you know many people have applied but wanted to see if you could have a quick chat with the hiring manager. They might say no sorry but they might put you through, it's not costing anything just a call. Furthermore add someone on Linkedin who seems to be the hiring manager and send a message across. Being active goes a long way and if you can do something the other 99 people aren't willing to do then you will have a higher chance of getting the role. Trust me when I say nobody wants to make the extra effort, or well very few do. Remember be different, take action, don't just rely on job boards to get your CV in front of the hiring manager. Some hiring managers receive 100s of CVs a day and don't even read all applicants! Do repost as it may benefit someone in your connections 🫡
