With over 40,000 US troops deployed across the Middle East, the region remains as important as ever. Since October 2023, more than 170 attacks have been carried out against US forces in #Iraq and #Syria. Over the last year, Spirit of America and Taiwan’s National Fire Agency have partnered to launch Taiwan’s Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) program, which provides first responders, police, and civil society with the necessary skills to work in dangerous environments. Due to our partnership, hundreds of instructors and thousands of first responders, conscripts, other government agency employees, and civil society volunteers have been trained, and complementary programs have been launched nationwide. Recently, we celebrated the release of the first TECC manual that over 15,000 first responders received as a part of their training. #Taiwan

In fall 2023, UActive expanded to 10 more schools in Mykolaiv, Ukraine, to support hard-hit communities near the front lines. After enduring nine months of Russian occupation, students at the Centralne school built a youth space with the village's first full gym. Our Asia Pacific Director, Joshua Brandon, recently presented on how to strengthen civilian training at the Global Cooperation and Training Framework Workshop in #Taiwan. Participants from 27 countries observed cutting-edge training for alternative service conscripts, showcased by our partners Forward Alliance and the National Police Agency, developed with the support of Spirit of America.
