This year marks 25 years of us hiring Interns! What better way to celebrate National Intern Day AND National Hire a Veteran Day tomorrow than by highlighting one of our own? Farhan is now a Crew Scheduling Strategy & Portfolio Manager, but he started as an Intern in our People (HR) Department. His career in the Navy began right out of high school, and he continued to serve throughout college, his internship, and his early career. Transitioning from an internship to a full-time role, Farhan was able to manage his civilian and military careers simultaneously. He’s held various positions at Southwest and moved into a Leadership role last year. Farhan is proud to connect with and mentor current Interns while also participating in our “Heart With Heart” program that transports loved ones and fallen service members to their final resting place. He does all this while leading the Crew Scheduling Strategy & Portfolio Team. “The Southwest Family has supported me through all my career changes, and I’ve always felt encouraged to explore my passions and interests. I carry a sense of pride for Southwest even when I’m not at work, and I’m grateful for everything this Company has blessed me, my family, and all of our Cohearts with.” We employ more than 10,200 military members and 1,800 military spouses and are grateful for their sacrifices and contributions. What started as a routine flight turned into an unforgettable birthday extravaganza for little Edie, thanks to our incredible Employees. It all began when a Customer Service Agent saw that it was Edie's birthday and rallied fellow Passengers to start a dollar collection for the birthday girl. Once on board, our Flight Attendants took the party to new heights! The entire plane joined in singing "Happy Birthday," and Edie was presented with a makeshift 'crown' and a 'cake' crafted from toilet paper. Our Crew then invited Passengers to contribute to Edie's "cash train," where her birthday fund quickly grew with every step down the aisle. Upon landing, Edie's generosity shone through as she gifted $20 to a band playing at the airport. In turn, they serenaded her with a beautiful rendition of "Happy Birthday". We are so proud of our Employees for constantly going above and beyond to transform ordinary journeys into extraordinary memories. Edie, we hope your 6th birthday was as special as you are! May your year ahead be filled with the same joy and kindness you experienced on our flight. Here's to creating more magical moments in the skies! ️#SouthwestHeart

There's nothing quite like that first flight feeling! Zayn and his family recently traveled to Florida to celebrate Zayn's preschool graduation and his older brother's high school graduation! This milestone celebration trip was a milestone in itself as it was Zayn's first flight! He couldn't contain his excitement as the plane began to takeoff and soar over Dallas. You just witnessed a core memory being made. ❤️💙💛 Chris, a Houston based Flight Attendant, was in for a sweet surprise when one of his daughters recently joined him inflight! He's no stranger to sharing the skies with his family though; his wife is also a Southwest Flight Attendant and his girls developed a passion for flying at a young age. In fact, Chris and his wife's love for their roles helped inspire their children to pursue careers in the aviation industry, too! Kam, Chris' daughter, shared that even after 35 years "he puts so much love into everything he does. It's easy to tell how much he cares about the Passengers and putting a smile on their face." #SouthwestHeart
