After years of delaying the cookie apocalypse, Google finally called it off. So, how should publishers react? Vote below to let us know how (or, if) you’re pivoting in light of the big news. Our POV is simple: for publishers, this doesn’t change much. Sure, Google's move might relieve some time pressure. But Publishers likely still will face problems once Google starts letting users opt-out—just look at iOS, where about 50% of users ask apps “not to track.” That's a lot of missing data. We've had some conversations in the last 24 hours and many publishers are continuing with their plans for cookieless targeting alternatives. After all, Google may be changing course but other risks — like expected new user data regulations — haven’t changed a bit. Build your communities, focus on owning your user data, and look for effective ways to activate it. That way you can grow no matter what Google throws at you. 🚀

We partnered with Comscore, Inc. to find out if our audiences are truly unique. Turns out — yes. Of our 150+ million monthly users, many don’t use the other social networks. To get specific: — 11.4% of OpenWeb users don’t use Facebook, — 51.1% aren’t on Instagram, — 47.8% aren’t scrolling TikTok, — 46.9% don’t tweet (or – X?) on X, …and more in the graph below. Across our 5,000+ publishers, we host the most engaged and passionate communities on the web. Now we know they’re unique, too. Ready to reach audiences like nowhere else? Let's talk: openweb.com/contact/

But it’s the quality of the conversations that keep users engaged. Our best-in-class, AI-powered moderation keeps trolls, bots, bullies, and spammers at bay. Let’s have a conversation about hosting conversations: openweb.com/contact
