Upcoming OOO with family? All vacations come with their own forms of stress, but there’s something uniquely challenging about #vacationing with family. Octave therapist Channing Richmond MA, LMFT gives her advice to HuffPost on boundaries to set before, and during the trip. “It takes effort to assess boundaries, it takes courage to share them with others, and it takes discipline to continue to assert them — but despite the effort, it’s worth it.” https://lnkd.in/g2MuwPYw

Some Octavians gathered in Salt Lake City last month to connect IRL for our annual Corporate Strategy Offsite, where we focused on important initiatives over the next six months. We know just how important time together is to foster deeper relationships, collaborate on the spot, and create meaningful memories. As always, we left reinvigorated and ready for the next challenge 🌟

This Disability Pride Month marks 34 years since the passing of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Since its inception, it’s evolved to highlight and celebrate disabled voices, born out of necessity to rework the narratives and biases too often linked with disability. Octave therapist Melissa Kwiatkowski, LMHC says, "Our loved ones are usually our champions, but navigating caregiving and support in an ableist world is a challenge." Melissa shares her personal experience with her disability, and how caregivers can best support their loved ones. #DisabilityPride #DisabilityPrideMonth https://lnkd.in/gpWTujZx

🌟 We're all human and make mistakes, even mothers! Over time, some of these mistakes — whether intentional or not — can cause people to develop a mother wound, which describes the harm caused by a problematic relationship between mother and child. Recognizing and healing the harm caused by a toxic mother is difficult, but not impossible. In this PureWow piece, I offer strategies to recognize toxic behaviors, set healthy boundaries, and begin the healing journey. I hope it brings comfort and guidance to those who need it. Research shows that 3 in 4 Americans feel that mental health takes a back seat to physical health. Should it? There's compelling evidence to suggest they're equally important: 👉 Frequent feelings of anger increase the risk of cardiovascular disease. 👉 Cortisol — the “stress hormone” — can weaken the immune system. 👉 Chronic anxiety can trigger gastrointestinal disorders like IBS. https://lnkd.in/g8MQNemC
