Meet Lindsay Boland, challenge seeker and Principal Product Designer for Lowe's Companies, Inc. I have always been a fan of how Lindsay has chosen to approach obstacles in her career with such optimism. I took some time to learn more about her career journey to share with you all! 👇 #LowesLife
1) What attracted you to work here? 🛠️
I’ve spent most of my UX career in retail. What I love about Lowe’s specifically is that the challenge we face isn’t simple. Customers aren’t just coming to us to grab products; they’re working to complete a project and want confidence that they’ve got the right item with the correct approach. I was really interested in working through how we infuse trust and knowledge into our experiences so we can better serve our customers and associates.
2) What has your seven-year journey here been like? 🧐
I’ve had the opportunity to hold a few roles in my time here. I always greatly appreciated my leaders taking a personalized approach to growing my skill set and providing me opportunities based off my personal goals. I’ve had the chance to assist in a major migration as a Senior, drive UX process as a Lead, learn more about our associates as a Senior Manager with the Enterprise team, and currently, as a Principal, I help drive Omni-channel strategic initiatives that help serve our customers, associates, and providers.
3) What has kept you motivated to stay working here for so long? 🙌
I live my career by the phrase ‘if you’re not feeling challenged, you’re not growing’ and for me, I’ve always loved having complex challenges to solve at Lowe’s. I find myself in a cycle of constantly learning - whether it’s about Lowe’s, our customers, or about UX - and that curious environment makes me want to be here. I also believe we’ve fostered a community which allows for creativity, individuality, and camaraderie which create a space for us all to thrive in what we do.
