Christopher Garcia, IntegerBio’s Scientific Founder and member of our Scientific Advisory Committee on being named the recipient of the 2024 Passano Award by the Passano Foundation. Dr. Garcia is the Younger Family Professor and Professor of molecular and cellular physiology at Stanford University. https://lnkd.in/eKcRHQuS The Passano Award, which will be presented in October, recognizes Dr. Garcia’s foundational discoveries regarding the structure and function of cell surface receptors and how they interact with the molecules that bind to them, or ligands. Dr Garcia was recognized for this research and its implications for safer and more effective treatments. Beginning in 1945, the Foundation presents an award each year to a person or persons who have made an outstanding contribution to the advancement of medical science and whose work was done in the United States. Prime consideration is given to work that has immediate clinical value or gives promise of practical application in the near future. Dr Garcia joins a remarkable cohort with this designation. Since its inception. more than 20 previous Passano Foundation awardees have gone on to receive the Nobel Prize. https://lnkd.in/efA9B7kn IntegerBio is proud to be advancing a number of engineered proteins from Dr. Garcia’s lab through the early stages of drug development. Our pioneering efforts aim to advance the field of immunovirology in the fight against multi-viral threats. Beyond Integer’s molecules, more than a half-dozen engineered proteins from Dr. Garcia’s lab are undergoing clinical trials.
