Helaina is excited to share two articles recently published in the renowned Journal Food and Chemical Toxicology. The first, a review publication supports the safety of recombinant human lactoferrin as an ingredient. It demonstrates the absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion of lactoferrin (human and bovine) is well established. The animal and human safety data on recombinant human lactoferrin also support it is well tolerated without adverse effects on iron parameters. Helaina’s safety plan was put together by scientists at Helaina and vetted by key scientific experts in immunology, toxicology/immunotoxicology, food ingredient risk assessment, and lactoferrin biology to meet GRAS requirement of general recognition. It addresses key safety questions regarding consuming effera™ as a food ingredient in the diet for adults. The administration of up to 138X the intended commercial dose of Effera™ once daily for 14 days was safe and well tolerated. Effera™ Human Lactoferrin offers high-quality, superior, sustainable, and effective benefits for formulation by its ability to optimize iron utilization at cellular levels. Effera™ Human Lactoferrin optimizes iron levels to support energy production, oxygen delivery, and red blood cell count.
