Meet Liora Grushcow, engineering co-op (intern) based in Toronto, Ontario where she is developing her career in transportation while attending the University of Toronto. The ability to use technical tools to help address social issues was what attracted her to a career in engineering. She is working on several battery electric bus projects, and the Sheppard Subway Extension, in Toronto. “It’s a rewarding area of work because there are people who don’t have easy transportation routes, and because of my studies, I can give them one. I get to take a skill that I have and make an impact on individuals’ lives every day,” says Liora. This summer there are nearly 350 interns and co-ops at HDR around the world, each bringing unique skills and doing meaningful work to grow in their careers. Thank you, interns and co-ops for all that you do at HDR. #InternAppreciation

Control systems have an expiration date, a shelf-life and a best-by date. This can be difficult to predict and is driven by advances in hardware and software technology, changes in manufacturing processes and in some cases, forced obsolescence by vendors. Billy Fox, PE, PMP, CAP, control systems and cybersecurity principal, was featured in a Consulting-Specifying Engineer article, where he discusses how to determine the correct time to replace a control system. As owners face operational issues of aging facility and utility infrastructure, maintenance and updates to their control systems are typically overlooked. Green hydrogen production is expected to grow quickly in the coming decades. To help with these emerging projects, we've developed a proprietary tool, sponsored through our unique Fellowship Program, that streamlines the evaluation of hydrogen equipment and processes. We sat down with the tool's creators, Brandon Curry, PE and Nick Barber, to learn more about how it works and what types of projects it can support. https://lnkd.in/gq32XCwb #Hydrogen #GreenHydrogen #Decarbonization
