Toyota is reportedly planning to construct a new electric vehicle (EV) battery plant in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. The plant will be located on Kyushu, Japan’s southernmost main island, nicknamed “Silicon Island.” According to Nikkei Asia, the new battery plant will be situated around 25 miles from Toyota’s Miyata plant, which produces Lexus models primarily for export. Lucid Motors has entered into a non-binding supply agreement with Graphite One, a Canadian-based mining company, to secure a domestic supply chain for electric vehicle (EV) battery materials. Under the terms of the agreement, Graphite One will supply Lucid with 5,000 tonnes of synthetically produced graphite per year over an initial five-year period.
