We love butterflies 🦋 and so does nature! For our #FridayFacts quiz we're asking you how sharp the decline in 15 grassland butterfly species has been over the 1991-2020 period, as highlighted in our recently updated #EEAIndicator. Sadly, more needs to be done to protect and preserve our nature to protect key #pollinator species like butterflies. They play an important role in #ecosystems and provide a range of ecosystem services, including pollination. Butterflies are sensitive to environmental change and a good indicator of the health of the environment. Find out more and the answer here: https://lnkd.in/g6ibU6vr

Butterflies 🦋 play an important role in ecosystems and provide a range of #ecosystemservices, including #pollination. Butterflies are sensitive to environmental change and a good indicator of the health of the environment. According to our #EEAIndicator their numbers are declining. Monitoring data from 18 EU Member States show that between 1991 and 2020, populations of 15 grassland butterfly species decreased strongly, by 29.5%. Member States need to significantly increase the implementation of existing policies and put new conservation and restoration measures in place to ensure the recovery of butterflies. Now is the time to accelerate the shift to a more circular Europe ... find out more how the EU is doing in its transition from a #throwaway economy to a #circular one. Our recent #circulareconomy state and outlook report calls for bold action to drastically #reducewaste, prioritise reduction of #resourceuse, improve #recycling rates and improve the introduction of products that are designed for circularity from the outset Find our more: https://lnkd.in/gatTdMa5

#Circularmodels allow products and materials to be used longer and made into new products after use. That means less #waste and less #environmentalimpact. Find out more about how Europe is #goingcircular - key facts and EU action on the #circulareconomy in our #EEATopic: https://lnkd.in/ek2PxdfV
